Tom Stevens was born on July 12, 1984 in Venray, the Netherlands. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education (PE) at the Fontys University of Applied Sciences in Tilburg. Interested into the functioning of the human body, Tom continued his studies at the former Faculty of Human Movement Sciences of the VU University Amsterdam (sports track). He conducted his Master Internship, with the aim to biomechanically underpin the classification of Paralympic seated throwing events, at the University of the Sunshine Coast, Australia in 2009. In 2010, he obtained his Master’s degree, including a successfully followed Academic Teacher Program.

 

In 2011 Tom started with his PhD project in training load monitoring at the VU University Amsterdam in collaboration with Football Club Ajax. During his PhD, as part of the collaboration, he worked as a sport scientist at AFC Ajax for the first team, second team and youth teams and amongst other things helped implementing tracking technology. Currently, Tom works as an exercise physiologist/sport scientist at AFC Ajax.
